Celsius Drink Lawsuit: The $82 Million Rap Battle and Influencer Controversy

Celsius is truly one of the biggest energy drink brands in the country, and it is super popular too. But it wasn’t like that always. They did a lot of things to get to this point, and in between, there have been some controversies too, and today, we’re here to talk about just that. More specifically, let’s shift our focus to the recent Celsius Drink Lawsuit, and see what really went down. Here we go then.

Flo Rida vs. Celsius: A Huge $82 Million Fight

Celsius Drink Lawsuit

First, let’s talk about the super popular Celsius Drink Lawsuit, which had something to do with the popular rapper Flo Rida. So, if you have been enjoying Celsius drinks for a long time now, you’d remember that back in 2014, the actual company decided to collaborate with Flo Rida. The goal was simple: Celsius wanted to promote their energy drink, and as a contract, Flo Rida was supposed to get some company stocks, bonuses, and extra cash too if the drink became a hit after this collaboration.

Well, long story short, after this campaign, sure enough, their drink actually became a hit right here in the country. But after some time, Flo Rida found out that the Celsius company wasn’t sticking to its contract with him. Like, he didn’t receive any company stocks or any of the extra cash they promised.

After a little bit of talking and consulting, he finally went down the legal route. Yes, he filed this Celsius Drink Lawsuit back in 2021. What then? After some time, this case finally hit the courtroom at the start of 2023. And sure enough, since the claims of Flo Rida were totally legit, he actually ended up winning the trust of the jury, and that’s how he got handed a mind-boggling $82.6 million.

Looking at the conclusion of this case, no doubt the Celsius people weren’t happy, so they decided to fight back and appealed. They are accepting the fact that the claims of Flo Rida are legit, but the jury actually got the money part wrong in this case. They went on to say that the stock price was calculated from 2023; instead, it should have been calculated from 2021 because that’s when the actual contract came into being.

But so far, Flo Rida’s win still stands, though the cash might need to be recalculated as per some experts’ opinion.

The Influencer Trouble: Sneaky Social Media Ads

If you think that this was just it, well, there was another lawsuit we saw, but this time by a regular customer of Celsius. Yes, just this year, in 2025, we saw a woman named Mariana Dubreu filing a lawsuit against Celsius and three social media influencers.

According to her claims, she is already a fan of Celsius drinks, but she has been seeing so many ads about their drinks on social media lately, and the stuff these ads portray is completely misleading. She says they were basically faking it on social media. How so? Celsius actually pays influencers to make videos about their drinks like they are totally a fan of their products, but in reality, they got paid to do so, and there is nothing genuine about that.
